Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Kalinga reminded the public to continuously practice strict health safeguards against Covid-19 to avoid infection.

Lately, municipalities in the province and Tabuk City have put in place several measures to make sure cases are manageable and that contingency plans are ready in the event of a surge.

Kalinga province holds a record of 144 active cases of the Covid-19 virus, but none of the cases are tagged as Delta variant. Kalinga has recorded a total of 5,185 Covid-19 cases since the onset of Covid-19 infections. 4,960 of the total have recovered.

Meantime, the Cordillera region, as of this writing, has already recorded 2 cases of the Delta variant while Region II has listed 16 cases, as confirmed by the Department of Health.

The first one detected in the region is from Pudtol Apayao, and the second one is yet to be known.

In connection, Provincial Health Officer Edward Tandingan in a previous statement has warned that all COVID-19 cases, may it be variant or not, should cause the “highest degree of alarm” to all. Thus, the public must always strictly adhere to the minimum public health standards (MPHS) and get vaccinated once given the chance.
