NPA in Isabela killed in a gunfight


Isabela, Philippines – A high ranking member of the New People’s Army was killed after he refused arrest yesterday, January 26 in Barangay Palacian, San Agustin.


5ID, Startroopers, Philippine Army reported that Renato Busania alyas Andong pulled out his gun and fired it towards the police and military while his warrant of arrest was being served.


This resulted into exchange of fire between the operatives and the suspect rebel where he ended being shot. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.


The killed individual is a Staff Member, Head Training, Regional Operations Command, Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley (KR-CV) of the New People’s Army. He has a warrant of arrest for double murder for the death of two people in July 2000.


A cal. 45 that was used by the suspect was recovered along with gun shells, a grenade, and a sling bag containing a gun magazine.


5th Infantry Division Commander MGen. Laurence Mina said in the report that the army and the police are searching for the remaining CPP-NPA members, stressing the rebels cannot escape the long arm of the law.


“Sa mga natitira pang mga miyembro ng CPP-NPA, wala na kayong matatakbuhan pa. Kasama ang mga mamamayan, sinusuyod na ng kasundaluhan at kapulisan ang lahat ng mga lugar na inyong pinagtataguan. Hindi namin kayo hahayaang makaligtas sa inyong pananagutan sa batas,” he said.
