Tabuk City, Kalinga – The City of Tabuk has spoken – most want the anti-corruption crusader, Attorney Errol ‘Pasiking’ Comafay, to be their councilor in the next three years.

It had been a bumpy road to the Sangguniang Panlungsod for Comafay, who was stoned with rumors to keep him from advancing in the race. One of the challenges in his second bid for a seat at the Tabuk City SP is the decision from the Comelec En Banc to disqualify him on the grounds that he is not a resident of Tabuk City.

Amid the rocky trail, Comafay stood firm, and so did the Tabuk City electorate who shaded their ballots on May 12 to elect the anti-corruption advocate.

When votes started coming in on Monday evening, the lawyer has since led the race. However, the Comelec Tabuk City informed they will not be recognizing the votes for Comafay in observance of the decision from the Comelec En Banc.

On May 13, despite being number one and having garnered 41,582 votes as of 12:46 p.m., Comafay was not proclaimed. Instead, the Comelec declared councilor re-elect Luchie Sarol who garnered 35,423 votes, as the number one councilor.

Comafay, meantime, conveyed he felt the love and empathy of the people during the campaign period, saying that the more he was being ganged up by some ‘politicians’, the more people showed their support to him. Thus, the election turnout.

“If the Comelec will not proclaim me. I would be proclaimed by the Supreme Court. We will file a motion with the Supreme Court. We will submit the election results to prove that the petition against me is baseless,” he told GURU Press Cordillera.

Comafay thanked the more than 41,000 people of Tabuk who rallied behind him, assuring them he will fight for the votes they cast for him.

“Salamat kadagiti botantes. Gapu iti suporta ken ayat yo kanyak ket nangabak tayo. Ilaban ko ti botos yu,” he expressed.
