Baguio City, Philippines – More than 20,000 or 80 percent of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Cordillera region have embraced digital marketing, says the Regional Director of the Department of Trade and Industry-Cordillera Juliet Lucas on Monday, September 05, through the national news agency.

According to Lucas, entrepreneurs across the region even those in remote areas try to find locations with an internet connection, so they can promote their products and upload their contact information online through the Facebook application.

The regional department, she said, has been conducting capacity building since the COVID-19 outbreak as means to push digital innovation for the local products to be made accessible to customers that have difficulty travelling due to restrictions.

“We want entrepreneurs to be searchable so that when a client is looking for something, they can be viewed,” stated Lucas.

In partnership with the Department of Science and Technology, the MSMEs were able to likewise administer digitalized cashless payments through the Quick Response code.

Lucas underscored that digitalization made entrepreneurs more competitive in the market.

“Mas malaki ang productivity para mas competitive sila in terms of prices, at the same time yung quality ng products maganda rin. Kung mano-mano yan, minsan hindi maganda ang quality at matagal pang gawin,” explained the regional director.
