Over 5,000 displaced workers in Mt. Province aided thru P100M DOLE’s Tupad Program

Mountain Province - The Department of Labor and Employm0ent distributed P100 million to more than 5,000 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (Tupad) program from various municipalities in the province.


TUPAD is DOLE’s flagship program to provide assistance to informal sector workers who were displaced or whose livelihoods were affected due to COVID-19 pandemic, calamities, or disasters.


Recipients include Paracelis that received P54, 998,500 for its 4,857 beneficiaries; Natonin, received P1, 800,198 for its 318 beneficiaries; Barlig got P1, 460,538 for the 258 beneficiaries, Bontoc was given P492, 507 for its 87 beneficiaries, while Tadian received P549, 300 for its 97 beneficiaries.


In Sabangan, DOLE recorded TUPAD payout of P46, 709,991 for 4,281 beneficiaries.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, with the DOLE officials from its national and regional offices distributed the aide to the different towns on Saturday, July 31, 2021.

Meanwhile, Paracelis Mayor Dr. Marcos Ayangwa thanked Bello for extending assistance to his constituents. “It is a big help for us.”


He said more than 4,000 workers were displaced by typhoon “Rosita”, which trampled the northern part of Luzon back in October 2018. Paracelis’ banana and corn plantations were wiped out during the typhoon.


According to Sabangan Mayor Marcial Lawilao, the different mayors of the province submitted TUPAD proposals to the secretary to assist their constituents.


Mountain Province Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr. said that through Bello's help, the province was one of the recipients of P101 million for various aid programs.


The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the opportunity that the TUPAD program provided, especially at this time of the pandemic when work is scarce and daily wage earners are struggling to get by.
