P16M marijuana, P20K shabu seized in a buy-bust operation in Abut, Quezon

Quezon, Isabela –Two men were arrested late evening of Saturday, March 6, in Abut, Quezon after around P16 million worth of alleged marijuana and shabu were seized from them in a buy-bust operation.


The Philippine National Police reported that suspects Anwar Sindatoc, 54, a resident of Las Piñas City and Elson Cabunyag, 43, from Port Area, Manila sold two bricks of alleged marijuana worth P31,000 to an undercover operative.


The two tried to evade arrest, but were intercepted by operatives manning a quarantine checkpoint in Quezon, Isabela that led to the confiscation of another 125 bricks and 4 tubular packs of marijuana worth P16 million and P20,400 worth of shabu.

Other items confiscated include a caliber 45 Colt pistol with 7 live ammunitions, M14 rifle live ammunitions, various ID cards, cellphones, and boodle money.


The suspects were brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory for drug test while the evidence were brought to the custody of PDEA Region 2. Cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Dangerous Drugs Act and Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulations Act will be filed in court against the suspects.


PNP Chief Police General Debold Sinas lauded the efforts of the operating units saying, “I commend our police and PDEA agents for a successful teamwork and cooperation which led to another positive operation against illegal drugs.”
