La Trinidad, Benguet – Showing there is no room for illegal drug recycling in the Cordillera, the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the region joined hands in torching P3.6 million worth of confiscated marijuana.

The ceremonial destruction and burning of the said contraband was done at the Parade Ground of Camp Major Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad on Monday, July 14, according to the Police Regional Office CAR.

The contraband subjected to destruction was 30 tubular packs of dried marijuana leaves estimated to be worth P3,600,000. These marijuana tubulars were confiscated on June 3, 2025, when anti-narcotic cops and agents responded to a reported abandoned vehicle with suspected marijuana in Upper Wangal.

Cordillera top cop, Police Brigadier General David Peredo, in his message during the ceremony, assured the public that the law enforcers and anti-drug personnel will sustain their anti-illegal drug initiatives in the region.

"As your Regional Director, I assure the people of the Cordillera that PRO CAR will not falter in its mission. Together with our stakeholders and community partners, we will sustain our anti-illegal drugs efforts guided by our shared vision of a peaceful, orderly, and drug-free Cordillera," he was quoted saying.
