Pasil, Kalinga - The Municipal Health Office (MHO) of Pasil, headed by Dr. Aldrin Siwao, heightens its program for Bakunation (vaccination), purified protein derivative (PPD) testing, and blood donation to protect the community against the COVID-19 pandemic and help those who are in need.

Their plan to intensify protection of their community was realized with the 3 in 1 health campaign conducted by the health unit in Magsilay during the celebration of the 55th Anniversary of Pasil on June 18, 2021.

According to Municipal Health Officer Siwao, the one-day activity of RHU-Pasil resulted in the inoculation of 29 individuals, collection of 14 units of blood, and PPD testing of at least 10 children.

The PPD skin test is the most commonly used method to diagnose latent tuberculosis (TB) infection, usually done in children. Positive PPD result indicates the exposure to a person who has TB. Exposed person will be infected with the mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria that causes the disease.

Blood Donation

Siwao said that the Mobile Blood Donation Activity of RHU-Pasil was “intensified on the 2nd quarter of this year, anticipating the blood donation month this July.

The municipal health officer disclosed that the activity is to fill the depleting reserve at the blood bank at Kalinga Provincial Hospital.

“Our supply of blood at the kph blood bank is already at a low level since a lot of yPasil were also in need of blood,” Siwao noted.

To date, there is a total of 141 units collected-34 in Balatoc, 17 in Cagaluan, 41 in Pugong, 35 in Malucsad, and 14 in Magsilay. Siwao invites the participation of the public for bloodletting activity set in Dalupa on June 25, and Dangtalan on June 27.

Bakunation drive

For the Bakunation program, a total of 388 individuals were inoculated for their first and second doses of Sinovac while 100 received Astrazenica.

With the progress, Siwao extended gratitude to the volunteer donors who are willing to donate not just for yPasil but for the whole province.

He also lauded the ‘inexhaustible’ health workers, saying “uray nu holiday ket ada da lata nga agtrabtrabaho, magnagna kadagiyay far flung bgys iti pasil just to bring the health services closer to the people.”

The municipal health officer underscored and appreciated the role and support of Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr. who, he said, has been “ever supportive to all the health programs.”
