TABUK CITY, Kalinga — The Kalinga Police Provincial Office (KPPO) officially transitioned to a new leadership on Friday, October 9, 2026, as PCol. Gilbert Fati-ig turned over command to incoming Officer-in-Charge PCol. Peter Ngabit Jr.

The Turnover of Office Ceremony, held at the Kalinga Astrodome, was presided over by Cordillera Police Regional Director PBGen. Noel Vallo. The event marked both the conclusion of Fati-ig’s one-year tenure as Provincial Director and his official retirement from the Philippine National Police (PNP) after 32 years of service.

During the ceremony, Fati-ig was awarded the Medalya ng Pambihirang Paglilingkod (Special Service Medal) for his leadership and commitment to protecting the people of Kalinga from October 15, 2025, to October 9, 2026.

In his message, Fati-ig thanked the KPPO personnel for their role in maintaining peace and order, urging them to extend the same cooperation to Ngabit, his classmate from the Philippine National Police Academy.

"Sana yung binigay niyong support sa akin, thank you very much for that, pakipasa, ipasa niyo yung support sa incoming OIC (I hope the support you gave me, thank you very much for that, you pass it on to the incoming OIC)," Fati-ig said.

Accepting the mantle of leadership, Ngabit vowed to work closely with the provincial police force to serve the people of Kalinga with dedication, care, and trustworthiness.

The high-profile event was attended by key provincial and local officials, including representatives for Governor James Edduba and Congresswoman Caroline Agyao, Vice Governor Dave Odiem, several provincial board members, and municipal mayors.
