Isabela, Philippines – In recognition of his act of ultimate sacrifice, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has awarded the Medalya ng Kadakilaan to a fallen Isabela police officer who died while pacifying a man running amok on October 17, 2025, in Cauayan City.

Police Corporal Jay-ar Galabay had just finished providing covert security for the Miss Tourism Philippines 2025 Coronation Night and was on his way home past 1:00 a.m. when he encountered Jomark Molina, who was reportedly running amok in Barangay Cabaruan.

Galabay immediately responded and tried to calm Molina, who was causing alarm.

While attempting to pacify the suspect, Galabay was suddenly attacked and stabbed multiple times. Despite his injuries, the officer managed to draw his firearm and shot Molina. Both men were rushed to the hospital but were later pronounced dead due to their injuries.

In a solemn tribute on October 17, Cagayan Valley Police Acting Regional Director PBGen. Antonio Marallag Jr. traveled to Reina Mercedes, Isabela, to pay his respects and personally award the Medalya ng Kadakilaan to the fallen officer. Marallag lauded Galabay’s heroism and acknowledged his supreme sacrifice. The regional director also turned over financial assistance to the officer’s wife.

“Ang kabayanihan at sakripisyo ni PCpl. Galabay ay mananatiling buhay sa puso ng bawat kapulisan at mamamayan bilang huwaran ng tunay na serbisyo at karangalan para sa bayan. Isa kang tunay na bayani, PCpl. Jay-ar Galabay,” the PRO2 said in a statement.
