Police no lead yet on suspects’ identity in Appas, Tabuk shooting incident

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga police said they are still working hard to find the identity of the riding-in-tandem involved in the shooting of Sandro Basacoy along the Provincial Road in Barangay Appas, Tabuk City on September 8.

The suspects were wearing mask and helmet when they killed Basacoy. What was known is that they were wearing black shirts and were on board an orange XRM MC.

Kalinga Police Provincial Director PCOL Peter Tagtag Jr. in an interview with Guru Press Cordillera on Friday, September 9, said investigators are still checking recordings of closed-circuit television cameras near the area that could help in the progress of the case.

The motive of the shooting, he added, remains unknown.

“Nu han kuma nga natay diay victim ket at least kuma ket naala tayo diay ustu nga [istorya] ta baka adda ti previous nga nakalaban na,” he stated.

A relative of the victim, in a separate interview, supported the statement saying they can not think of any motive since they know Basacoy as a good man.

Meantime, while the police are doing their job, the director is asking the public, particularly the eye witnesses, to help in solving the case. Those who have any info related to the incident can call or text Kalinga police hotline – 09157796556.

Victim dies while being treated in hospital

Basacoy died at around 8:45 on same date due to hypovolemic shock. He was ferried to the hospital after the shooting incident around 5:00 PM on September 8, 2022, but did not survive the operation.

His remains are now at their house in Barangay Tanglag.

He is survived by his three children.
