Baguio City, Philippines – As the holiday season draws near, the National Telecommunications - Cordillera reminds the public anew to be wary of fraudulent text scams being sent by anonymous senders.

NTC-Cordillera Regional Director Mildado Lee made the warning through Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation as text scams are still prevalent up to these days.

Text scams, as told by the regional director, are text messages coming from anonymous numbers informing of rewards, job offers, promises, cash gifts, and discounts along with a web link.

To avoid fraud, the public, Lee underscored, should ignore those types of messages, and avoid clicking the link in the sent text messages. The regional director further advised reporting to NTC if spam messages were received. Individuals can notify their office at their email address – ntc.gov.ph or upload them at their website - https://ntc.gov.ph.

The public is likewise told to block the senders of spam messages to avoid receiving fraudulent text scams.
