Region CAR records 2 cases of Delta Variant

The Cordillera region has recorded 2 cases of the dreaded Delta variant of Covid-19, according to the confirmation of Department of Health.


The DOH, in a new batch of data released, showed 177 new cases of Delta. The new batch of samples underwent genome sequencing at the UP-Philippine Genome Center at the UP-National Institute of Health.


Of the 177 cases, 3 of which are returning OFWs, 144 local cases, while the rest are still being verified.


Region II, meantime, recorded 16 cases. Most of the cases are found in the National Capital Region and Region IV-A, 90 and 25 cases respectively.


The first Delta variant recorded in the Cordilleras was reported in the Province of Apayao.


In Kalinga Province, with the surge of Covid-19 cases, many fear Delta might have slipped in but no confirmation has been made by the Provincial Health Office as of yet.
