Remains of 5 NPAs discovered in Isabela, death could be due to internal conflict

Isabela, Philippines — Remains of five NPAs were discovered on July 8, 2022 in Maconacon, Isabela, five days since the authorities exhumed two bodies of other CTGs who died of hunger.

The 5th Infantry Division said former members of the rebel group disclosed that the death involved an internal conflict related to fight for leadership which resulted to the five killing each other.


The Philippine Army identified the bodies as alyas ‘Rigid/Mawin’, the Commanding Officer of Front Operation Command(FOC); ‘Brad/Airus’, Vice Commanding Officer of FOC; ‘Dondon’, Vice Squad Leader of Squad Uno; ‘Monmon’, member of Squad Uno; and ‘Bambo’, Squad Dos member.


All of them are said to be under the Komite Probinsya Isabela, Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley.

Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Sangdaan Jr. conveyed that the clash within their organization shows that they are not united stating, “…Hindi na rin magtatagal ay sila na mismo ang magpapabagsak sa kanilang organisasyon."


Brigadier General Danilo Benavides emphasized that the government troops will further strengthen their operation against the remaining CTGs.


All of the remains of the 5 rebels who were exhumed in Maconacon, Isabela were provided with a descent burial by the Local Government Unit.
