Cagayan, Philippines – Alyas Tobby will now be peacefully laid to rest after his remains was retrieved by his family on February 18, the 5th Infantry Division announced on Monday.

Tobby whose real name is Paolo Macaraeg was one of the two members of a communist terrorist group who died during a gunfight with the government troops on February 13 in Baggao Cagayan.

Tobby was the Finance Officer of the Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley. He was a former student of a prestigious university in Manila where he started as an active member of Anakbayan under the Kabataang Makabayan.

The said rebel was also believed to be one of those who attacked the safe house of the Military Intelligence Group in Baggao in 2017.

According to the 5ID, the slain rebel’s family personally came to the funeral parlor in Baggao and positively identified Tobby as their kin.

“Iniuwi na ng pamilya ni Paolo Macaraeg, alyas Tobby, ang kanyang mga labi sa kanilang tahanan matapos makumpirmang ito nga ang kanilang namatay na kaanak noong Sabado,” the 5ID informed.

Tobby was a native of Cavite.
