Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – A young couple in Tuguegarao City ended up in police custody after their attempt to flee anti-narcotics operatives failed during a buy-bust operation on Friday night, February 20, 2026.

The suspects were identified by Police Regional Office (PRO) 2 as “Ynna,” a 25-year-old property manager, and “Regieboy,” 29. The couple was listed as High-Value Individuals by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). Authorities also disclosed that Regieboy had previously been arrested four times for illegal drug offenses.

According to PRO 2, operatives launched the buy-bust operation on February 20, with the transaction taking place along the national road in Carig Norte, Tuguegarao City.

However, when the suspects realized they were dealing with undercover police officers, they attempted to escape by speeding away in their white Hyundai Accent. This triggered a hot pursuit operation that led to their arrest along the national highway in Estefania, Amulung.

Seized from the couple were approximately 50 grams of suspected shabu valued at P366,500, along with a replica HK-417 airsoft rifle with a magazine.

The suspects were taken to the Tuguegarao City Police Station and detained while authorities prepare charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, PRO 2 Regional Director PBGen. Antonio Marallag Jr. said the arrest of the two high-value individuals reflects the PNP’s continuing and intensified efforts to combat illegal drugs.
