Tinglayan, Kalinga – Majority of Ret. PCapt. Alexander Malasi’s career in the government was spent serving Kalinga before he retired in 2023, now he is set to return to public service… this time as a Vice Mayor of Tinglayan.

Malasi, a known public figure when it comes to peace and order, tribal conflict resolution, and public safety in Kalinga, was in a tight one-on-one match with his opponent, Frank Ollaging, in the Vice Mayoral race.

Amid the close match, more iTinglayans delivered votes to Malasi, leading him to his proclamation as the Vice Mayor-elect of Tinglayan on May 13.

In a statement, Malasi thanked the people of Tinglayan for their trust and confidence in him, saying that the victory in the May 2025 midterm elections is not just his, but it’s for every Tinglayan who believed in his capability of leading them in the next three years.

“Sipupuso iti panagyaman tayo kadagiti kakailyan iti talek da kadatayo. Ket tatta nga inaramid iti umili iti part da nga agpili, datayo metten nga pinili da nga agtugaw iti mangaramid iti part tayo nga agserbi kadakuada,” he expressed.

Now that the election period is over, Malasi called the people of Tinglayan to unite and support the newly proclaimed set of leaders in the municipality, saying, “tatta nga nalpasen iti election, dawatek kuma iti panagkaykaysa tayo para iti pagdur-asan iti ili tayo nga Tinglayan.”
