Robbers steal P30M cash, gold breaking into pawnshop in Santiago, Isabela by making tunnel

Santiago City, Isabela - A pawnshop owner in Santiago City, Isabela is disheartened after he discovered the burglary that happened to his establishment by some yet to be identified thieves.

 

Santiago PNP reported that the crime, "Tunneling Robbery Incident", might have occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, September 24, in Barangay Centro East, Santiago City.

 

The owner of the pawnshop, whose identity was withheld by the police, believed that more or less four individuals broke into his establishment.

 

About 30 million pesos worth of money, gold bars, and jewelry, including personal and pawn valuable items, were stolen.

 

Based on the findings of the police, the thieves went through the drainage near the pawnshop and dug a tunnel towards the front flooring of the establishment.

 

When the suspects finally entered, they sprayed black paint on all the CCTV cameras inside, destroyed the lock of the rooms where the vaults were placed, and took away said items.

 

The crime was only discovered when the employees were about to start their daily routine on said day.

  

 As of this writing, investigators are still establishing the identity of the suspects.
