‘ROLLY’ affects 115 families in CAR, 2 in Kalinga



Tabuk City, Kalinga― Based on the DSWD–CAR DROMIC (Disaster Response Operation, Monitoring and Information Center), Rolly affected a total of 119 families with 451 individuals in region CAR.

DSWD-CAR DROMIC said 105 families were affected in Apayao (Flora, Kabugao and Calanasan), 1 in Baguio City, 1 in Benguet (Sablan), 2 in Kalinga (Balbalan) and 4 in Mountain Province (Barlig and Tadian) and Ifugao 6. These families which were assisted by their respective local government units.

In Kalinga, the 2 families affected comprise of 8 people who are residents of 1 barangay in the Municipality of Balbalan.

Most of the LGUs mentioned the problem of flooding in their areas, while others the risk of landslides.

OIC-Regional Director Leo Quintilla said they are continuing to monitor the severe weather bulletin, and their teams in Abra, Kalinga and Apayao are on heightened alert status with enough relief goods to support any disaster operations.

DSWD–CAR currently has 14,884 family food packs worth around P6.94 million. These are strategically prepositioned in the regional warehouse in Puguis La Trinidad, Benguet; satellite warehouses in Bangued, Abra; Alluna Gym in Luna, Apayao, and at the Bontoc Mountain Province Multi – purpose Hall; Ifugao Provincial Police Office; Lamut, Ifugao Trading Post, and at the Philippine Army 503rd Infantry Brigade in Kalinga.

Meantime, said office also maintains a P3.2M standby or Quick Reaction Fund.

With Tropical Cyclones Rolly and Siony already outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, DSWD-CAR assures that their preparedness, actions and heightened alert status continue with focus on effects of severe weather conditions.
