Luna, Apayao – A total of 35 bags of blood were collected from Barangays Imelda and Emiliana, Santa Marcela, through the Community Mobile Blood Donation program conducted by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Santa Marcela via its Rural Health Unit (RHU), in partnership with the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center (FNLGHTC).

Said blood donation initiative seeks to to ensure greater readiness for medical emergencies in the municipality, especially in situations when immediate blood transfusion is needed.

On October 14, Barangay Imelda donors contributed 24 units of blood, while on October 21, Barangay Emiliana donors added 11 bags.

The blood drives directly address the critical need for a stable blood supply within the municipality, ensuring that life-saving transfusions can be carried out when required.

In her statement, Mayor Evelyn B. Martinez emphasized the importance of donating blood, saying, “Maintaining an adequate blood supply is a key priority for our administration. These community efforts demonstrate our commitment to strengthening healthcare services and ensuring the well-being of all Santa Marcela residents.”

The mayor also commended the RHU, PHO, and FNLGHTC for their collaborative efforts in organizing the blood donation drives, which enhance the municipality’s ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies.
