Santa Marcela LGU opens 2025 FREE Sports Clinic to interested youngsters in town

Santa Marcela, Apayao - The Local Government Unit of Santa Marcela on Tuesday, June 3 encouraged all eligible and interested youngsters, ages 8-15 to participate in the 2025 Sports Clinic for free.

 

This will be the second time the LGU is hosting said event. Last year, the sports clinic served over 214 participants across the 13 barangays. As announced through the LGU’s FB page, registration will be Walk-In Only, no online registration, no registration fees, nor reservation, and it is a First-come first served basis. 

 

Available sports and slots offered this year per category (Elementary and Secondary) include Basketball for male with 30 slots for each category; Volleyball (female) 15 slots each; Arnis (male and female) 15 slots each; Badminton (male and female) 15 slots each; Chess (male and female) 13 slots for Elem., 8 slots for secondary; Taekwondo (male and female) 15 slots each; Table Tennis (male and female) 15 slots each; and Gymnastics (male and female) 15 slots each.

Participants who desire to hone their skills in the said sporting events are advised to visit the Office of the Local Chief Executive, Mayor Evelyn B. Martinez until June 5 with their parents or guardians bringing with them copy of their Birth Certificates. 

 

This year’s Sports Clinic with its theme, “Exercising Body and Mind,’’ under the AYAM initiative (Activating Youngsters Against Mayhem) was designed to promote both physical and mental wellness among sports enthusiasts through teaching them familiarize the basics while also safeguarding them from vices, digital addictions and othe negative influences.

 

Mayor Martinez during previous statements underscored such provision of activities is an essential and effective strategy for the development of good discipline among children and youths in the community.

 

‘’Through this Sports Clinic, we do not only help our youngsters gain skills or become renowned athletes but more than that we provide them avenue to develop in them good discipline, as vital foundation of becoming better citizens,’’ she said. 

 

“We hope that this annual program for our kids will be sustained, Martinez added.

 

Meantime, the start of Sports Clinic will be announced shortly.
