Scholarship for High School to Post Graduate studies available; over P30,000 stipend to be provided- DOST

Tabuk City, Kalinga - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has opened applications for its comprehensive scholarship programs, covering undergraduate and graduate levels, including master’s and doctoral degrees.


Said scholarship programs are the Science and Technology (S&T) Undergraduate, Junior Level Science; Accelerated S&T Human Resource Development Program; Capacity Building Program in Science and Mathematics Education, among others.


Other programs include Engineering Research and Development for Technology and Science, and Technology Regional Alliance of Universities for National Development, for the graduates with scholarship privileges ranging from P30,000 to P40,000.


Said amount will cover allowances [of all programs] like learning materials and/or connectivity, transportation, clothing, and even premium fees like group accident and health insurance, thesis and graduation allowance, among others.


During the coordination meeting for the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) held at the 103rd Infantry Battalion Conference Hall in Camalog, Pinukpuk on August 20, DOST Kalinga Provincial Director Jasmine Lee Donaal announced the news, confirming the department’s participation in the 2025 PCSA celebration activities.


Qualified Schools in Kalinga


In an interview on August 22, Donaal shared that the program updates yearly, allowing more and new courses and accredited schools.


Donaal said that in Kalinga, only Kalinga State University (KSU) qualifies for the program unless a private school offers a DOST-priority course with special accreditation.


“Basically, every year daytoy, tapos ti kasla updates na lang ket additional courses and universities. So nu dagitoy undergraduate nga kuna tayo, nu ditoy Kalinga, KSU lang. Masapol ngay gamin nga diay courses, even if private schools ket dapat ngay nga center of excellence or center of development idiay nga course. Ngem ti inkasta da, insapasap dan. Basta adda diay priority course idiay State University Colleges,” she shared.


For KSU, the DOST priority courses include BS in Biology, BS in Pharmacy, BSEd Science, BS in Agricultural Technology, BS in Information Technology, BS in Computer Engineering, BS in Electrical Engineering, BS in Forestry, BS in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, BS in Civil Engineering, BS in Mathematics, BS in Public Health, BS in Psychology, BSEd in Mathematics, BS in Agricultural Engineering, and BS in Agriculture.


For Master’s and PhD, Donaal shared that options are available in Baguio and Tuguegarao, saying, “In Kalinga, KSU lang for undergraduate ken junior level science scholarship. Nu Master’s and PhD awan ditoy Kalinga, ngem adda idyay Baguio like dagidiay na-mention ko - Saint Louis University and University of Cordilleras. Nu Tuguegarao met ket Cagayan State University.”
