Sanchez Mira, Cagayan – A 26-year-old seaman was arrested and is charged with parricide after killing his wife at Barangay Center 1, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan.
The victim identified as Pamela Jane Puzon, 28, was killed by her husband on September 28, 2022 because of jealousy. Police identified the suspect as Joshua Mark Puzon, a 26-year-old seaman.
In the initial investigation by the PNP Sanchez Mira, as reported by Bombo Radyo Tuguegarao, the victim was inside the house with her two children on said day when the suspect arrived furiously knocking the door.
Police said that when the wife opened the door, the suspect stabbed her with a knife while their 5-year-old child was watching. After the incident, the suspect fled with a motorcycle.
The 5-year-old child sought help from their neighbors. Later, the brother of the suspect, who is also a minor passed by and saw his niece crying. Upon checking, the brother discovered the victim covered with blood on the floor.
Police said the victim suffered eight stabs and was taken to the hospital but died while being treated.
Sanchez Mira Deputy Chief of Police Lieutenant Elexir Reolalas said that before the victim died, she was able to tell that it was her husband who stabbed her.
A hot pursuit operation was conducted and the suspect was arrested in Flora, Apayao - particularly at the house of his relative.
Meantime, the 5-year-old child who witnessed the crime is under stress debriefing.
