‘Senator Pangilinan… willing to provide assistance,’ – Vice Gov. Odiem on pledge of support to Kalinga due to Super Typhoon Uwan

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Amid the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong), the office of Vice Governor Dave Q. Odiem received a text message on November 9, 2025, from the office of Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan expressing their willingness to extend assistance to the province.


During a situation briefing held at 3:00 p.m. on November 9, Odiem shared the good news in an interview, expressing his gratitude for the senator’s pledge to help the people of Kalinga through relief assistance.


“Itattay ket naka-receive nak ti text message from the office of Senator Pangilinan nga willing da nga mangi-extend ti any nga assistance iti probinsya nga Kalinga. So kadatayo nga officialdom ti Kalinga ket agyamayaman kenni Sen. Pangilinan iti dayta nga offer ti assistance ditoy probinsya tayo nga Kalinga,” he said


Senator Pangilinan, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform, is known for his advocacy for farmers’ welfare, youth participation, and good governance.


Odiem also shared that Governor James S. Edduba has ordered a forced evacuation as Super Typhoon Uwan continues to intensify—reminding fellow iKalingas to cooperate and evacuate when instructed.

Amid the uncertainty brought by Typhoon Uwan, the vice governor urged everyone to pray for divine protection and assured the people that the provincial government, uniformed personnel, and concerned agencies are on duty 24 hours a day to assist those in need.


“Kadatayo am-amin, let us pray iti Namarsua tapnu ikkan datayo iti divine protection. Sapay kuma ta daytoy bagyo ket haan unay nga napigsa. Iti kameng ti provincial government ken dagiti uniformed personnel ken amin nga concerned nga ahensiya—adda kami amin ditoy para ti 24-hour nga serbisyo tapnu mangted ti support ken dagiti nangangailangan nga constituents tayo,” he concluded.
