‘Sobrang proud ako na dala ko yung tribe ko na Kalinga’ – Olympic athlete Bacyadan

Tabuk City, Kalinga – yTanudan boxer, Hergie Bacyadan, is honored to carry her Kalinga roots with her to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris next month.


Bacyadan earned her ticket to the much-awaited Paris Olympics after a quarterfinal unanimous win in the Women's 75kg of the 2nd World Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament in Thailand on June 2, 2024.


“Sobrang proud ako na dala ko yung tribe ko na Kalinga and heto na nga andito na tayo sa paparating na Paris Olympics, so asahan niyo yung ibibigay kong determinasyon, lakas, and diskarte sa laro and sana masungkit natin kung ano yung karapat dapat na medalya para sa atin,” the athlete expressed in her interview with ABS-CBN.  


Bacyadan likewise acknowledged the outpouring support from her home province, assuring her fellow yKalingas she will strive harder for the podium.


“Amin nga taga yKalinga, asahan niyo nga lalaingek iti laban ko daytoy nga dumteng nga Paris Olympics,” she said.


Hergie Bacyadan is the fifth Filipino boxer to qualify in the Paris games.
