Cagayan, Philippines – The army has identified the two members of the New People's Army (NPA) who were killed in an encounter with government forces in Villa Cielo village in Buguey, Cagayan on May 03, 2023.

One of the casualties was Rey Busania alias"Bon" from Maddela Quirino. He was the Commanding Officer of the Regional Operations Command (ROC) of Komiteng Rehiyon Cagayan Valley (KRCV), confirmed the 5th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.

It has been 15 years since Busania joined NPA and his family lost contact with him since then.

His family claimed his remains after positively identifying him. With the help of government authorities, he was given a proper burial at Centro West Public Cemetery, Buguey, Cagayan on May 08.

Meanwhile, alias “Morga” was identified as Lennel Domanais who used to be a student at the University of the Philippines – Diliman. She was recruited and eventually joined the terrorist group in Maddela, Quirino at the age of 16, serving as a supply officer and “Giyang Pulitika.”

Domanais attempted to escape the organization in January but was unsuccessful due to her unfamiliarity with the area. Her attempt was later discovered by other members of KRCV until she was killed in the recent encounter.

Her family decided to bring her body home to Manila.

The army is calling for the remaining members of terrorists to surrender and be with their families, rather than with their false ideology.
