Tabuk City DepEd, TCNHS locked down; Module submission this week suspended

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Tabuk City National High School and Tabuk City School’s Division Office are under lockdown starting yesterday, January 6,2020 until further notice for contact tracing and prevention of possible virus infection.

In an interview with Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Irene Angway, she said the lockdown was decided as a precautionary measure for possible transmission of the virus upon learning of a positive case.

Angway said a government employee who was unknowingly a direct contact of a Covid-19 positive patient was found out to be positive of the virus. The person came to their office on Monday, January 4, 2020 and interacted with one of their personnel.

“Not more than 15 minutes yung interaction nila. We subjected her for a swab while I ask everybody to work from home and concentrate on boosting their health,” Angway said.

Angway told Guru Press Cordillera they are just waiting for the swab test result.

Meantime, Tabuk City Schools Division personnel are encouraged by Angway not to panic. She further said this should not be a surprise anymore considering the number of people they are assisting everyday.

“We expect that this can happen anytime and for the others who went to the division office, they are advise to take precautionary measures for them to isolate themselves from their family, do steam inhalation, and take vitamin C,” she said.

As for Tabuk City National High School, the principal of said school stated in a separate interview that they decided the lockdown for same reason. Said employee also visited the school on the same day.

He further said that the contacts of the employee are now under isolation. Results of their swab test are underway.

Distribution and retrieval of modules scheduled this Friday is then suspended but expected to resume on Friday next week.
