Tabuk City gets water rafting life support equipment, first aid kit from DOT-CAR


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Safety of tourists planning to experience the thrill of white water rafting in the Chico River is assured with the provision of various Occupational First Aid and Basic Life Support equipment and kits to Tabuk City River Guides Association.


Department of Tourism-Cordillera provided first aid kits, life vests, spine boards, hard hats, goggles and medical kits to said organization during the 21st Matagoan Fest and 72nd Founding Anniversary of the City.

DOT-CAR Regional Director Jovy Ganongan led the turn-over. According to the agency, the giving of said equipment was an offshoot of the recently-held Basic Life Support Training the river guides underwent on June 1-2, 2022.


Also, this in in line with the commitment of the tourism agency to enhance tourism competitiveness and develop further the skills of tourism manpower services to global standards in the region.


Tabuk City is dubbed as the White Water Rafting Capital in Northern Philippines, but this tourism activity the city is known for was halted during the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.


The pandemic restricted tourist arrivals, and as a result, the source of livelihood by the river guides was heavily impacted.


In an earlier statement, the Provincial Tourism Office Kalinga said the white water rafting activity in Chico River is among tourist destinations in Kalinga that will be featured in the tourism agency’s project dubbed “Find Yourself in the Cordilleras”.


This is a travel ad that showcases travel destinations in the region aimed at boosting domestic tourism.
