Knights of Rizal-Tabuk City honors Dr. Jose Rizal in Buwan ng Wika celebration


Tabuk City, Kalinga – In celebration of the Buwan ng Wika, the Knights of Rizal (KOR) – Tabuk City Chapter paid tribute to Dr. Jose Rizal, the national hero, a stern advocate of showing love for the Filipino language.


Highlighting the event is a wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal’s monument in Tabuk City, early morning of August 14, 2021, in observance of the Linggo ng Wika in the country.


KOR – Tabuk City Chapter Pursuivant, Engineer Mandel Gup-ay in an interview said that one of the mandates of their organization is to emulate and embody the teachings of Dr. Jose Rizal, adding that among these is his timeless statement, “ang hindi marunong magmahal sa sariling wika ay daig pa ang hayop at malansang isda.”

Gup-ay said that the KOR– Tabuk City Chapter in the performance of their obligations is holding charity events in the city such as giving of wheelchairs, providing support to the sick and those in need of financial assistance, bloodletting activities among others.


“Usually nu adda agkailangan aga-ambag kami amin. Ditoy chapter mi, agcon-concentrate kami iti charities kasi diay iti number one a kailangan aglalo tatta a pandemic,” Gup-ay added, further stating that their organization is also planning to spearhead activities for the youth.


KOR is an international organization founded by Antonio Torres, the first Filipino to become the Chief of Police in Manila in 1911. The Knights of Rizal – Tabuk City was established in 2019.
