Tabuk City, Kalinga – Pending the gradual opening of tourism activities in the province, this city’s tourism office is eyeing the establishment of online registration system for tourists coming in, while undertaking actions to resolve issues of individuals sneaking into the city breaching quarantine control points.

City Tourism Officer Arlene Odiem said that they are planning to adopt the online registration of tourists from outside Kalinga for the office to know the needed information and tour plans prior to their entry in the city.

“Iti serbi na nu ag-online tayo gamin, amin nga itinerary da dapat ammu tayo – where will they be accommodated, how many days will they stay here, and where will they want to go,” she said.

Odiem added, however, that before they will actually set-up a system, they have to address issues that were raised by resort owners during their meetings. One of these include tourists not undergoing quarantine control points triaging protocols by sneaking in.

She further said that due to humanitarian reasons, some of these resort owners have no choice during the lockdown, but to accommodate the visitors since they are already in the establishment.

“Before we are going to set up a certain system, masapul a dagitoy a problema should be brought out ta anya ikasta tayo, di awan serserbi na. Mago-online online tayo may mga takas-takas naman pala, that would be unfair to the others,” she said.

Meanwhile, Odiem disclosed that the tourism officers in the province are planning to meet on March 12 to set a uniform guideline for the gradual operation of the tourism industry in the province.

She said that the city will eventually have to open its doors for said activity alongside with other towns considering that the city is the gateway to the other municipalities, aside from the fact that tourists visiting Tabuk City are visiting other areas in the province as well.
