Tabuk LGBTQIA+ uses proceeds of Binibining Ikatlong Lahi 2021 Pageant to provide aid to members

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Funds collected from the Binibining Ikatlong Lahi 2021 by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual plus (LGBTQIA+) Community Tabuk Chapter shall be used to provide financial assistance to terminally ill members and indigent students.

The Binibining Ikatlong Lahi 2021 Pageant was held at the Capitol Gym on Sunday, December 19, 2021, which gained commendation from Governor Ferdinand Tubban as the organizers turned the competition into an activity for a cause.

In an interview, Marlon Agnaya, one of the officers of the organization said that they identified Mr. Marciano Paroy as one of their beneficiaries while the remaining proceeds will be used to purchase a set of computer with a printer to help students in their projects, thesis, among others.

Paroy, who is now slowly recovering, suffered from a stroke in February 2019. The financial assistance shall be used for his maintenance and weekly therapy.

“Kasi ti maysa nga nakita mi, ni sir Marciano, ammu tayu met nga very active isuna , influential iti bebeki ken dayta [computer set ket kailangan] kasi tatta ket modular [ti mode of learning],” Agnaya stated.

On the other hand, some amount collected will be given to the winning candidates of Binibining Ikatlong Lahi 2021 and consolation prizes to those who participated.

Why was the pageant organized?

When asked why they chose the pageant as their fundraising activity, Agnaya reasoned that said event is the most effective one given that LGBTQIA+ members love pageantry.

Other than that, the activity was also meant to encourage those who are part of the rainbow community to register as members of their group.

In connection to this, Agnaya said that they are still encouraging those who are not registered to be part of the organization as a means to grow the group and join hands in helping those members who are in need.

“Within Tabuk lang ti inorganize mi ta naka-under daytuy LGBTQIA organization iti PNP ket iti adviser Tabuk lang ngem possible tu latta a nga i-open iti buong province,” he said.

As for the pageant for a cause, Agnaya expressed hope that it will be sustained and will be held annually.

Meantime, the organization extends its gratitude to its sponsors, those who bought tickets, and assured that they will utilize the collected amount for its intended purpose.

“We are very thankful kadagituy sponsors mi, am-amin nga naggatang iti ticket ket talaga nga rest assured ket dagituy imbayad da ket ited mi kadagituy nangangailangan,” they said.
