Tanudan, Kalinga – To further strengthen its tourism industry, the Tanudan Municipal Local Government Unit, led by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag, gathered the public to hear their ideas and inputs on the proposed Tourism Code and a Mandatory Waste Segregation ordinance of the town.

Led by the Sanguniang Bayan chaired by Vice Mayor Antonio Basungit Jr., the public hearing was conducted on August 11 in Banagao, Poblacion and was attended by different institutions, communities, private sectors, and the different barangays.

Tanudan, being one with many tourist attractions to offer, according to dagadag, needs a tourism code and basis for planning, proposing projects and programs as well as implementing them.

Tanudan Tourism Officer Aurie Mae Banson said that once the tourism code is finalized, it will be easier to craft policies and create implementing rules and regulations in relation to the programs and activities geared towards the tourism development and growth of the industry in the municipality.

Banson explained that the proposed Tourism Code and a Mandatory Waste Segregation Ordinance will benefit Tanudan by bringing in more infrastructures, jobs, skills, and investments in the town while ensuring the preservation of the environment, culture, and the indigenous heritage of the municipality.

After the successful public hearing, Banson relayed that all matters discussed and the inputs from the attendees will be consolidated.

The Committee on Tourism will deliberate on the results of the activity before the second public hearing is scheduled.
