Tanudan’s P3M, first covered court completed


Tanudan, Kalinga – The multi-purpose covered court at Mabaca Elementary School in Seet of this town is now ready for the public to use for various activities after its completion this first week of December.


The 20m x 35m gymnasium which was the first covered court to be constructed in Tanudan was initially built last year with P3 million funding allotted by the Local Government Unit of Tanudan under the administration of Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag.


The LGU allotted P700,000 from Appropriation Ordinance No. 2021–072 for its concreting, which started in November and was completed in the first week of December.


According to John Ryan Awingan, Executive Assistant to Mayor Dagadag, the LGU will also be installing basketball rings to provide the young people a venue to play and practice as well as hold sports competitions or activities.

Apart from this, the covered court will also serve as a venue for various events, such as school and barangay programs.


“Uray nu adda programa ti barangay, school, or meeting ti different agencies ken mabalin idiay iti venue. Ken daytoy met lang ket pagay-ayaman ti pupils kada constituents idiay,” he said.


Meantime, Tanudan’s second gymnasium was also constructed this 2021 with a P6.4 million budget, of which P4.7 million came from the Bayanihan Grant and P1.7million is the LGU’s counterpart.


For the concreting of the pavement of the said gymnasium, P1.2million funding will be given next year by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, headed by Vice Governor Dave Odiem.
