Tanudan, Kalinga─Members of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Anggacan recently donated school supplies to learners of Anggacan Elementary School (AES) to help ease the impact of the current pandemic.

Jeric Wacdagan, Teacher-In-Charge of AES, said that even before the pandemic, the group had been actively supporting and assisting their school.

“Permi ti ragsak mi, manmano diay umay da tapos suda ti agdamag nu anya ti masapol a suda ti umasideg nga agdamag nu anya kailangan ti school. We are very proud and happy in behalf of AES nga adda kakastoy a support and assistance,” he said.

One of the goals of the SK members is to assist the youth sector in their area, and that Anggacan Elementary School has always been a beneficiary of their projects and programs.

In 2020, when the CoViD-19 pandemic started, modular distance learning was introduced by learning at home through printed materials. Having seen the challenges, the

Anggacan SK provided a portable hand washing facility, bond paper and other printing materials for the reproduction of modules to the school.

And just recently, 24 learners were given school supplies such as ballpen, pencil, bond paper, notebook, and art materials.

In addition, the SK members initiated and processed the construction and repair of a slope protection project. Through cash-for-work scheme, the parents were identified as beneficiaries. Said project was done in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development regional Office CAR through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

For these developments, Wacdagan expressed gratitude to the SK for their continuous support that helped improve the performance of the teachers, aside from serving as a motivation for the learners to continue studying despite the challenges of distance learning methods.
