Pangol, Tanudan – Nestled in the lush mountains of the Municipality of Tanudan, the majestic Tawang Falls will soon welcome visitors as Kalinga’s newest tourism gem, with its official opening marked by a fund run event celebrating nature, community, and sustainable tourism.

With its pristine waters and serene surroundings, Tawang Falls has long charmed locals but remains a hidden treasure to many. It is located about 30 to 40 minutes from Tabuk City via the Cudal–Lay-asan–Pangol route.

Through the fund run, the local government aims to showcase the site’s beauty while generating support for tourism development.

Scheduled on November 22, 2025, the event titled “Stride for a Cause: Running with Purpose – Tanudan Run 2025” will take participants through the municipality’s scenic landscapes—from Pagugo, Bawac, Darulog, Ammaboy, Magtoma, Baccong, and Liyang, ending at the Tawang Falls site in Sitio Cabugao.

The event is expected to draw participants aged 15 and above from across Kalinga and neighboring provinces. Proceeds will be used to add funding for improvement of tourism facilities, including signage, rest areas, and access roads leading to the falls.

The run will feature 21 km, 12 km, and 6 km categories, with corresponding registration fees of ₱1,600, ₱1,200, and ₱600, respectively.

According to Tanudan Mayor Jaedicke Ross Dagadag, in an interview with PIA Kalinga, the activity is part of the municipality’s broader plan to develop eco-tourism sites that create livelihood opportunities for residents while preserving Tanudan’s pristine environment.

“At the finish line, participants will enjoy Tanudan delicacies, unlimited local coffee, and a short program featuring the ribbon-cutting of Tawang Falls, the groundbreaking of the eco-toilet facility, and a tree-planting activity. The running event aims to raise funds for the construction of a ‘nature-inspired’ male and female toilet at the tourist site,” Dagadag said.

With its official opening, Tanudan joins the growing list of Kalinga municipalities promoting their natural attractions as eco-tourism destinations, contributing to the province’s vision of sustainable and inclusive growth.
