Rizal, Kalinga – An 18-year-old accused of stealing a motorcycle fled to another town using the motorcycle he stole but was tracked down and arrested by the Rizal Police on February 27, 2026.

The Rizal Philippine National Police (PNP) identified the suspect as an 18-year-old out-of-school youth from Barangay Santor.

On the same date, authorities received a complaint regarding a carnapping incident in Bulbul, Rizal. This prompted operatives to launch a hot pursuit operation and mobilize intelligence networks and confidential informants to track down the suspect.

The operation led authorities to Tanggag, Paracelis, where the suspect was found in possession of the stolen motorcycle. The victim positively identified the vehicle as his own, resulting in the arrest of the 18-year-old.

A case for violation of Republic Act 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, has been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office.

The Rizal PNP credited the successful operation to the collaborative efforts of law enforcement units, stating that “the successful arrest highlights the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation, community partnership, quick response, and intelligence-led policing in protecting the community.”
