Teenager in Tabuk City pleads help for father with brain tumor

A 15-year-old son from New Tanglag, Tabuk City has nothing to wish but for his father with a brain tumor to get the immediate treatment he needed for him to live longer.

Having not enough financial resources, Klint Andrew Bassong decided to knock on the good and generous hearts of the public to help them hospitalize their father, Alexander Bassong, and to have him receive the needed medical procedure for his brain tumor.

In his letter posted on Facebook on November 17, the 15-year-old wrote that his father had first experienced a mild stroke in the past years but it was in 2018 when a tumor was discovered in his brain.

Due to financial constraints, they were unable to have the tumor treated causing it to grow larger. He described that every time his father goes in their front yard, he always falls with his head always hitting the ground.

The teen conveyed he cannot lose his father expressing, “… umatidog pay kuma iti biyag na ta kasapulan mi pay lang ni papa mi.”

Two days after Klint wrote the letter, they rushed Alexander to Baguio General Hospital.

Alexander’s tumor

According to Genevive Basitao, Alexander’s niece, he was rushed to Baguio General Hospital on Sunday, November 20, 2022, after experiencing difficulty in breathing.

She added that Alexander can no longer move his hands and feet and that he was intubated. Genevive further informed that the size of their uncle’s tumor is already 8.4 x 5.6 x 8cm.

Alexander will be subjected to surgery any time sooner. As of this writing, Genevive said that they are currently looking for blood donors with Type O.

No source of income

Genevive relayed that when Alexander was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2018, he still continued working as a security guard to provide for his wife and two boys.

Due to limited resources, Alexander sometimes cannot buy his medicine until his condition worsened, and was forced to retire from his job in September of this year.

She added that Alexander’s wife is a housewife but accepts cleaning other people’s houses if they call her in order to earn money for their daily expenses.

For donation

With no other financial resources, the family is seeking help for Alexander’s surgery and other medical needs.

Should you want to donate, you may send any amount to Anna Bassong’s GCash, 09123533281. You may also contact the said number if you want to send your donation directly.
