Tinglayan hailed as top performer in 2023 local revenue collection in Kalinga

Tinglayan, Kalinga – The municipality of Tinglayan excelled in 2023 on its commitment to fiscal responsibility and effective financial management.

The local government unit, through its Treasury Office, emerged as the top performer in tax collection in said period, surpassing the performance of other municipalities of Kalinga province.

The impressive feat was disclosed in the report of the Provincial Treasury Office, specifically on its Report of Collections on Real Property Tax, Business Tax, Fees, and Charges, along with economic enterprises for the 4th quarter of 2023.

As noted, Tinglayan did not only meet the target tax to be acquired but exceeded as its actual collection totals to P4,091,2023.54, exceeding the target of P3,116,623.

The local tax collection covered the collection from contractor’s fees and charges on infrastructure projects, collection of real property tax and business tax collection.

Mayor Sacrament Gumilab praised the efforts of the personnel of the Municipal Treasury Office, emphasizing that the feat manifests their dedication, hard work and efficiency as public servants.

The lawyer-politician stated the high revenue collection is attributed to the office’s hard work in visiting the 20 barangays of Tinglayan, along with the implementation of the one-stop-shop scheme.

Meantime, following Tinglayan in tax collection efficiency is Balbalan with tax collection performance rating of 121.16 percent, Rizal -97.62 percent and Pinukpuk – 76.23 percent.

In 2022, the tax collection efficiency of Tinglayan was rated 107.99 and settled in third rank among Kalinga municipalities while in 2021, the municipality is rank 1 among all fourth-class municipalities in the province based on the Year-on-Year-Growth in locally sourced revenues.
