Tinglayan health board convenes for health program updates and concerns; Mayor Abay vows all out support

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Ensuring the continuous delivery of quality health services in the municipality, members of the Municipal Health Board, chaired by Mayor Charles Abay, convened for updates and concerns at the Sangguniang Bayan Hall on Wednesday, July 30.


The municipal health board, composed of LGU and health officials with representatives from the private and non-government organizations involved in health services, is responsible of the proposal of budgetary allocations for health facilities and services to be submitted to and studied and approved by the council.


The board likewise serves as an advisory committee to the Sanggunian. They also create committees that shall advise the local health agencies in accordance with the technical and administrative standards of the Department of Health.


As relayed by Municipal Administrator, Atty. Mark Dave Bang-as, the agenda discussed in the third quarter board meeting covered the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients; Municipal Registration and Accreditation Council; re-organization of the Local Health Board Council; Health Care Provider Network; additional health personnel; renewal of birthing home; construction of the Tinglayan District Hospital; improvement of pharmacy and supply; improvement of services to far-flung areas; and other related matters.


In a statement, Mayor Abay, who expressed strong commitment to pursuing health programs and initiatives for the iTinglayans in his inaugural message, said he is looking into the concerns and the plans and is communicating with concerned offices and other officials to achieve best results.

The Mayor added that expanding the medical assistance, renewal of birth home permits, as well as the construction of Tinglayan District Hospital are in his priority list.
