Tinglayan LGU gets its FIRST national SGLG Award; P1.8M incentive to follow

Tinglayan, Kalinga – The local government of Tinglayan led by Mayor Sacrament Gumilab made history as it received for the first time in 1o years the national Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award in a momentous awarding ceremony at the Tent City, The Manila Hotel, Manila.

 

The sought-after national accolade was personally received with pride by Gumilab, along with some other local officials in Tinglayan on Monday, December 9.

 

The national award requires LGUs to comply with standards of efficient leadership and outstanding public service. With the said LGU getting the award, it manifested the exemplary performance of the local government of Tinglayan in delivering quality government services to its people.

 

Areas checked by the incentive-based award include financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity, health compliance, and responsiveness, sustainable education, business friendliness and competitiveness, safety, peace, and order, environmental management, tourism, heritage development, culture, and the arts, and youth development.

 

As shared by the young local chief executive in an interview, attaining the accolade serves as a gauge on what they had been doing so far for the development of the municipality anchored in their tagline, “Tongrayan Umunno-unnoy.” Gumilab expressed gratitude to all people who have been instrumental in the attainment of the award.

 

“Permi nga maragsakan tayo ta naawardan iti municipality of Tinglayan ta talaga nga diyay ti highest measurement nga age excel iti public service, iti delivery of services. I am very much grateful to the collective effort of every LGU employee, mangrugi kadagiti JOs, regular employees, head of offices ken amin nga elected officials. Salamat iti respeto, iti panangheed da iti directives tayo,” he stated.


The mayor also thanked the national-line agencies who guided them, and who have constantly reminded them of their role in the delivery of efficient government services to Tinglayanos.


Meanwhile, as one of the municipalities snatching the award, the LGU shall be receiving soon an SGLG incentive fund amounting to P1.8 million. The mayor relayed they will be utilizing the fund in improving the road heading to the town’s municipal hall.
