Tinglayan Mayor raised concerns despite small number of COVID-19 cases recorded

Tinglayan, Kalinga―The Municipality of Tinglayan raised concerns despite a small number of Covid-19 cases recorded since the lockdown started, in which it has had only three with the two having already recovered.

Mayor Sacrament Gumilab expressed his concerns for the strict adherence of health protocols even there is just one case left, reminding his constituents that for the safety of the majority, the compliance of health standard protocols must start with themselves.

He stressed that as the municipality cannot deny the entry of the Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) who wish to come home, he advises not only the LSIs but also his/her family members to comply with the protocols of the municipality.

This is also in line with the Municipal Ordinance No. 08 Series 2020, stating that all residents especially uniformed personnel coming from places outside the province are required to be quarantined for 14 days in a barangay isolation facility before allowing them to join their family and socialize with the residents.

Municipality COVID-19 cases

It can be remembered that last July 31, the municipality recorded its first COVID-19 case and then recovered.

Further, the second patient, 7-year old from Lepanto, Manyakan was discharged from the Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH) after its swab test results came out negative.

As of now, said patient was already at Poblacion, Tinglayan serving his home quarantine for a period of 14 days.

Recently, the municipality logs another COVID-19 confirmed positive case bringing a total of 3 positive cases.

The said patient is a 59-year-old female and a resident of the municipality. Said patient was referred to KPH while the contact tracing for the possible contacts is still on-going.
