Tinglayan officials complete Strategic Leadership for Good Governance course; Better delivery of gov’t services expected

Tinglayan, Kalinga – In aspiring to deliver better services to every iTinglayan, the municipal local government officials led by Mayor Charles Abay took seriously the training and courses on leadership provided by the Department of Interior and Local Government on August 18-20.


In the recent ‘Strategic Leadership for Good Governance: Introductory Course for Newly-Minted Officials’ under the (Newly Elected Officials Performing Leadership for Uplifting Service) NEO Plus Program at the Plaza Lodge Hotel in Baguio City, the officials acquired necessary skills and knowledge to effectively lead and govern their people.


The key topics discussed and highlighted in the course included strategic leadership, good governance practices, and collaborative approaches.

In a statement, Mayor Abay said he is grateful for the training as it contributed additional significant input on how to make and implement better policies and programs for their constituents.


“Very important talaga dagitoy kakastoy nga training and courses tapnu mas ma-strengthen diay leadership skills dagiti leaders tayo. The best way we can empower our kailyans ket we empower ourselves first as leaders. Isu nga iti officialdom iti Tinglayan ket we take high regard dagitoy leadership training and courses ta ti kayat tayo met lang ket maka-develop and implement iti better policies and programs that will promote the welfare iti kakailian,” Abay said.


Vice Mayor Alexander Malasi, on the other hand, emphasized that taking leadership requires a continuous process of learning and training so that officials can keep cultivating their skills and knowledge in leading their people.


“As a leader, we are also a learner. Dapat tuloy tuloy latta iti panag-cultivate tayo iti skills and knowledge tapnu mas mapapintas ken ma-improve tayo pay dagiti services tayo para ti Tinglayan,” Malasi expressed.


The NEO Plus program is conducted in phases over the officials' three-year term. The program focuses on strengthening their leadership capabilities, enhancing crafting of local policies, and improving delivery of government services through partnerships and innovation.
