Tinglayan, Kalinga - Newly elected barangay and youth officials of Tinglayan took their oaths of office before Mayor Sacrament Gumilab in a mass oath-taking ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 9.

A total of 309 individuals participated in the event and committed ‘to uphold their responsibilities and duties to serve their people diligently.’

Before finally serving their villages after taking their oath, the new set of officials who are expected to serve for the next two years need to comply with requirements first, such as the submission of their Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE).

As for Sangunniang Kabataan officials, they are told to undergo the Sangguniang Kabataan mandatory training, which is yet to be scheduled, apart from submitting their SOCEs.

Meanwhile, in his speech before the village leaders, Mayor Gumilab emphasized how lucky the officials were since they were given the trust of their constituents.

He then told them to value the trust given to them by doing their jobs diligently as public officials, emphasizing one of his favorite lines, “Many are called, but few are chosen."

“Let your pledge be your hope and light as you face a lot of temptations and challenges in your term as barangay and SK officials,” the lawyer-politician added.

The ceremony was witnessed by members of the Sangguniang Bayan, MLGOO VI Franchita Gayudan, FR. Teodoro Pic-it JR., LGU functionaries and employees, and the families of the newly elected officials.
