Tayum, Abra More than 1,000 job vacancies were offered at Tayum’s first-ever Indigo PESO Job Fair dubbed as ‘Trabaho Sa Bagong Pilipinas’ held at the Tayum Municipal Gymnasium, drawing a number of hopeful applicants from the town and neighboring areas on July 18, 2025.

Said event was a one-stop venue for local applicants, which addressed unemployment by providing a job expo, offering a centralized platform where job seekers and employers can connect.

The fair offered a variety of job opportunities from local to national, such as positions for office staff, sales personnel, computer technicians, drivers, among others. The event featured at least eight hiring companies, including an accredited agency offering overseas jobs in Bahrain, Hong Kong, Oman, Malaysia, and Pakistan.

As cited by the Philippine Information Agency – Cordillera, DOLE–Abra Provincial Director Christopher Tugadi said that the job fair helps bring opportunities closer to individuals, particularly fresh graduates in the area.

“Ammo tayo met nga adu latta ti agkasapulan ti trabaho aglalo ditoy ayan tayo— aglalo dagitoy fresh graduates tayo. At least adda daytoy job fair nga idan-danon tayo tapno umasideg ti trabaho kanyada,” he was quoted saying.

Meantime, the Department of Migrant Worker representative Amaranth Rae Abalos advised applicants, especially those who plan to pursue jobs overseas, to choose accredited recruitment agencies for safer and legal hiring.
