Tragedy in Baguio nightlife: 44-year-old woman found dead at KTV Bar

Baguio City, Philippines – The body of a 44-year-old woman was found inside a karaoke television (KTV) and disco bar at KM 4, Marcos Highway, Barangay Bakakeng Central on December 26, prompting authorities to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Aside from its tourist attractions, Baguio City is also known for its nightlife, with popular entertainment venues—particularly KTVs and disco bars—catering to both locals and tourists. These establishments offer private rooms for karaoke, drinks, and socializing, as well as open areas for dancing and music.

The accessibility along major roads like Marcos Highway, combined with the cultural popularity of karaoke, makes such venues a common feature of the city’s nightlife. While primarily entertainment spots, these venues can sometimes become sites of incidents due to the combination of alcohol, people, and private spaces.

The woman, whose name has not been disclosed, was reportedly an entertainer at the bar, married, and a resident of Brgy. Bakakeng, according to a national media report.

Initial investigations revealed that her body was discovered by a customer who went looking for her after she left the VIP room they were using and had not returned. The customer later found her lifeless body slumped on a bench on the third floor of the establishment.

Authorities added that the last time the victim was seen alive was at the bar counter retrieving a beer, but the events leading up to her death remain unclear. Her remains were transported to a funeral home along Marcos Highway.

Meanwhile, the man who was last seen with the victim is currently in police custody as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of her death.
