Two children now fatherless after 28-yr.-old man dies on the spot in Baguio road accident

Baguio City, Philippines - Two children will grow up without a father after their 28-year-old dad was killed in a vehicular accident that occurred along the Harrison Road, Baguio City over the weekend.

The victim, whose identity was withheld by the police, was said to have been riding a “Mitsukotshi Veeperman” motorcycle when he met the tragic accident past 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 28.

Several local media outlets in Baguio reported that the man was heading home when a jeep hit his motorcycle, causing him to fall on the road. The incident didn't stop there as another jeep ran over him. 

It was said that the rider died on the spot due to the severe injuries he sustained from the incident. 

In her interview with the Bombo Radyo Baguio, the mother of the victim, Eloiza Ruiz, said her son left his wife and two little kids, which makes her more saddened with what happened to her son. 

For this, Eloiza reiterated that they will not settle the matter with the drivers of the jeepneys involved, despite one of them turning himself in to the police voluntarily. Her decision, according to her, was agreed upon by her family and the family of her son’s wife. 

“Kasahon po namin yong dalawang nakasagasa non (her son). Hindi po kami (makikipag) areglo; talagang kakasuhan namin sila,” said Eloiza.  

The mother appealed to those who witnessed the accident to come forward and tell what they saw to the authorities for a swift investigation to serve justice for the victim.  

“Yong mga nakakita po, please lang po paki ano naman po sa amin, makamit po yong hustisya ng anak ko. Maliliit pa po yong mga anak niya eh, at bata pa po yong anak ko. Sana makamit niya hustisya,” she added.  

As of this writing, authorities are still conducting further investigations about the incident while calling on drivers who have dash cams that captured the incident to submit the video to them as the footage could assist in their investigation.
