‘Essential kits’ provided to Kalinga hospitals, RHUs, Isolation Units

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Hospitals, rural health units, and isolation units in Kalinga received ‘essential kits’ from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) through the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) - Kalinga Chapter to aide them in ‘battling’ COVID-19.


The kits were turned over on June 14 to Provincial Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban and Provincial Health Officer (PHO) Dr. Edward Tandingan along with the beneficiaries.


The distribution is part of the Phase 3: Implementation and Monitoring of the COVID-19 Response of PRC and UNICEF.

Kalinga was classified under Chapter C based on the previous assessments such as the surge of COVID-19 cases.


Kalinga, based on said need assessment, was given 10 handwashing facilities, 2 water bubblers, 10 cleaning kits, 100 hygiene kits, 2 speakers, 300-500 posters, and 10,000 brochures.


Each kit contains alcohol, bleach solution, laundry soap, buckets, cleaning rags, pump dispenser, cleaning brush with a stick, dipper, soap bar, and mop wringer.


Among the beneficiaries include Holy Trinity Hospital, M Duyan Hospital, Kalinga District Hospital (Lubuagan), JVA Hospital, Pinukpok Hospital, Western Kalinga District (Balbalan), San Juan Hospital, Kalinga Provincial Hospital, and Mija Kim Gabriela Hospital.


Tinglayan Rural Health Unit (RHU), Tanudan RHU, Balbalan TTMF, Pinukpok TTMF, Pasil TTMF, Agbannawag Isolation Unit, and Rizal Municipal Isolation Unit will also be having their allotted kits.

Raymund Marlo Chan of PRC-Kalinga said that the chapter will hand over other kits to the beneficiaries until Friday this week since they have yet to transport the kits to other municipalities.


The Governor, in his message, expressed gratitude to all the initiatives and to the active participation of the Red Cross Kalinga headed by Chairman Mac Duguiang and Vice-chairman Floy Diasen.


Dr. Tandingan, expressed his gratitude for the support, acknowledging that the gesture is one of the most important parts of the strategy in battling the pandemic. He assured that the kits will be used efficiently.
