Tabuk City, Kalinga — Governor James Edduba delivered his send-off speech at the start of the Lumin-Awa Bike Fest on February 15, 2026, at Capitol Hills, Bulanao, Tabuk City, emphasizing that victory is never measured by who finishes first, but by discipline and respect.

Cycling enthusiasts from Kalinga and neighboring provinces—including Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, and Quirino—converged for the Lumin-Awa Bike Fest, navigating the Bulanao-to-Bulo stretch in the mountain bike, road bike, and fun bike race categories.

Before the bikers set off, Gov. Edduba shared an inspiring message, urging participants to respect one another, appreciate the beauty the province has to offer, and ride with discipline, integrity, and respect.

“As you ride through our scenic routes, may you also appreciate the natural beauty of our province… Respect one another on the road and uphold sportsmanship at all times. Victory is not measured only by who finishes first, but by how we ride—with discipline, integrity, and respect,” Edduba said.

He also expressed his gratitude to the PLGU officials, the working committee, safety marshals, and the cyclists for making the event possible.

“I extend my sincere appreciation to the organizing team, our provincial officials and partners, national government agencies including the CLGU of Tabuk, our safety marshals, and everyone who worked to make this event possible. Likewise, to all the bikers who answered the call and chose to be part of this meaningful celebration,” he added.

Capping the event, the awarding ceremony recognized winners across the different age categories.

Danny B. Aquino of Santiago City topped the 46 Years Old and Above Category, while Boots Miranda of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya ruled the 31–45 bracket.

Nathaniel Dalanao Jr. of Tabuk City emerged champion in the 15 Years Old and Below Category, and Laurent Briel Ballog of Tabuk City led the 16–20 division.

Meanwhile, Arjay Abbacan of Tuguegarao City and fellow cyclists Lavern De Leon, Benedict Layugan, Jaymar Garcia, and Lenzer Wanason completed the top finishers in the Fun Bike Category.

The event brought together 165 cyclists from across Kalinga and neighboring provinces, united by their shared passion for the sport and appreciation of the province’s scenic landscapes.
