Tabuk City, Kalinga―Vice Mayor Bernard Glenn Dao-as is appealing that the projects to be funded through the PhP1.925 billion loan of the City Government should be specified with their needed details for purposes of transparency.

Identifying each project and providing details, he said, is vital to help inform the public better so they would know and participate in monitoring its development to ensure that the fund is well utilized, adding that it is the responsibility of the august body to ensure that every government fund is well spent before they give their authorization for the executive to use the acquired fund and implement the same.

Vice Mayor Dao-as is one of those who sought more clarifications of the utilization of the proposed PhP1.925 billion loan alongside Councilor Atty. Zorayda Mia Wacnang and Councilor Samuel Suma-al, to prevent possible misuse and mismanagement of said fund.

He cited the still unclear utilization of the Bayanihan Funds and expressed that he does not want the same thing to happen with the P1.925 billion loan.

“Dayta tupay nagapo national government nga pondo ti COVID-19 fund nga 93 million ket haan pay nga nalibnaw nu kas ano ti napanan na dayta, kas ano garud dayta 1.925B?,” Dao-as expressed.

“Dapat ah ket na-specify kuma amin ti papanan na, kasla kuma diay hospital nakaspecify kuma nu ngay building tu lang ti papanan na diay 900 million, awan gayam apparatus na?” he added.

Vice Mayor also agreed with Councilor Suma-al when he called upon their members of the council to address concerns of corruption issues and questions being thrown at them against the majority’s approval of the ordinance on the processes and the details of the loan during their regular session held on July 22.

Dao-as said that the development projects covered under the PhP1.925B loan must benefit and should be for the advantage of every barangay in the city.

Added to that, the Vice Mayor said the proposed hospital to be funded under the loan has no feasibility study, and even the other projects that can be funded under the city’s regular fund.

“Saanak nga anti-development ngem kayat ko lang nga masiguro nga nasayaat ti papanan na dayta nga loan ken saan da nga apan mangipondo iti saan nalawag ti pakaaramatan na. Adda kapadasan tayun, saan koma met nga maulit-ulit nga kasla lang stampad nga para approve ti Sangguniang Panlungsod,” said VM Dao-as.
