‘Your hard work, discipline, and determination brought honor to Tinglayan’ – Mayor Abay to Tinglayan athletes after CARAA 2026

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Following the culmination of the 2026 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet, Mayor Charles Abay commended the iTinglayan athletes for their hard work, discipline, and determination in competing in the biggest sporting event in the Cordillera region.

Tinglayan contributed three gold medals to the overall medal haul of Kalinga. These gold medalists include Jayden Bang-as (boxing), Jamie Grace Florence (high jump elementary), and Raynelyn Manallog (pencak silat). Additionally, Fritch Dugay collected silver in chess while Lebron Gayyaman bagged a bronze in wushu. Three taekwondo players namely Shaira Labbutan,  Orlando Gonayon, and Clint Reden Pa-at also took home bronze medals.

In an interview, Abay expressed his appreciation to the whole delegation of Tinglayan for playing hard for the province. He congratulated the medalists for their feat in getting a slot for the Palarong Pambansa 2026.

As for the athletes who did not get medals this time, Abay encouraged them not to lose hope, saying that they did not lose since joining the CARAA Meet alone is already commendable.

Kadagiti annak tayo met nga haan napagasatan tatta, itul-tuloy yu latta nga agpraktis ken agtraining ta adda pay iti next time ken haan kayo kuma maup-upay ta joining CARAA alone, the biggest sporting event ditoy ili tayo nga Cordillera, ket worth-celebrating diayen,” he expressed.

Abay vowed continuous support to every athlete in Tinglayan, and assured them that the Tinglayan Municipal LGU will continue initiatives that will further strengthen the sports program of the municipality.
